Shawn Mendes Sang “Mercy” With Niall Horan: Watch
A lot of things happened last night (November 20) at the 2016 American Music Awards. Ariana Grande won the “Artist of the Year” award. Selena Gomez stole the show with her moving speech after receiving the “Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist” prize. And apparently, Shawn Mendes sang his poignant ballad “Mercy” with Niall Horan backstage.
As expected, it was pretty magical. The Canadian crooner played acoustic guitar and gloriously belted the tune while Horan harmonized with him.
The two also performed at the awards show separately, Mendes singing both “Treat You Better” and “Mercy” while the One Direction member sang his heartfelt new single “This Town.”
