New Find: Billie Eilish's "Six Feet Under"
14-year-old Billie Eilish mesmerizes with gloomily beautiful single "Six Feet Under."

It was only a matter of time before Billie Eilish got snapped up by a major. The 14-year-old, who generated huge buzz with a pair of independently-released singles, has signed a worldwide deal with Darkroom/Interscope. Their first step in breaking the teen is rolling out a dance video for “Ocean Eyes.” It makes sense. The dreamy ballad has racked up more than 20 million streams since arriving in late 2015 and was always intended to be accompanied by choreography. “Like music, dance has always been my passion — a way to express how I feel,” Billie says in an interview with i-D Magazine.

“We [Billie and brother/collaborator Finneas O’Connell] originally recorded ‘Ocean Eyes’ for a dance recital to be choreographed by my teacher Fred. We produced it with a tempo and arrangement that would fit lyrical/contemporary dance thinking through every moment,” she explains. “I ended up being injured and wasn’t able to dance for a long time, so after all that has happened with our music this year it is especially exciting to be able to do this video. Working with Fred and other dancers from the studio and just finally getting to dance again is amazing!”
