The Spice Girls Announce Splinter Group GEM
Three out of five Spice Girls are reuniting in a new splinter group called GEM.

Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B got the UK tabloids buzzing in July when they announced they were forming a Spice Girls splinter group called GEM (the first letter of each of their names). Five months have passed and the trio is no closer to releasing their debut single, but a cheerful demo has surfaced online. “Song For Her” is a welcome dose of nostalgia as the ladies sing about their favorite topic — girl power. “This is a song for her, you know you light it up,” they sing on the chorus. “Cause you know who you are, stand up, stand up. She’s got that boom boom pop, that’s something they can’t stop.”

It sounds like a Spiceworld B-side, which is a huge compliment. Don’t expect to hear the song on the radio, however. Emma already confirmed that it won’t be a single way back in July. “You know, us girls love creating stuff,” she said on breakfast radio. “We went and had a laugh in the studio. It’s not a single, it’s just we were creating. It’s just a demo and somehow it has got out there.” It might just be a demo, but “Song For Her” is all kinds of cute and essential listening for any Spice fan. Check it out below.
