EDIT: Post updated with full song.

Calum Scott landed a surprise international hit with a stripped-back, acoustic cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” (It went top 10 in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and Denmark). The out singer/songwriter, who got his big break on Britain’s Got Talent, will release his first original single, “Rhythm Inside,” on Friday (November 25) and he kindly shared a preview of it on Instagram. “There’s a rhythm inside that I can’t slow down,” the 28-year-old sings over strummed guitar. “And this moment in time, no I won’t stop now.”

It stays true to the stripped-back sound of “Dancing On My Own,” but the production is fuller and — from the snippet, at least — it sounds a little more upbeat. “I want to write real songs that mean something,” Calum says of his new single in a newspaper interview. “‘Rhythm Inside’ is very different to ‘Dancing On My Own’ which was about unrequited love. My new song is almost the opposite. It is very much about the internal response when you fall in love, such as your hair standing on end and blood rushing to your head.” Listen to a preview below.
