Songwriting queen Charli XCX wishes she kept Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love."

Selena Gomez was M.I.A for most of the year due to health concerns, but the pop princess is hoping to make up for lost time in 2017. She is currently putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to Revival and somehow squeezed in a studio session with Latin-pop legend Paulina Rubio. The Queen of Mexico (Sorry, Thalia) announced the collabo in a new interview with Vanidades magazine. “It’s truly a warrior, [in the sense that] it has a little of something from each genre, like banda, and pop, collaborations with DJ Snake and Selena Gomez,” she says of her upcoming 11th studio album.

“I was looking to maintain the key element: for the music to be dance-able.” This is an exciting opportunity for Selena. While Paulina is probably best known in the English-speaking world for her stint as a judge on The X Factor, she is a Madonna-level superstar in Latin America — a market that Sel hasn’t quite conquered despite releasing Spanish-language versions of “A Year Without Rain” and “Who Says.” This could be a win/win situation for both of them. While we wait for the duet to arrive, watch the pop star’s Cashmere Cat collaboration below.
