Austin Mahone Releases Surprise ‘FORME+YOU’ Mixtape: Listen
Surprise — Austin Mahone is staging a comeback for the New Year. The first phase is FORME+YOU, the mixtape he released without warning today (December 30).
Its eight songs strike a balance between Austin’s earnest, pop heartthrob beginnings (2014 EP The Secret) and the Chris Brown-informed R&B that followed (last year’s This Is Not the Album). He also reunited with Pitbull for the Modjo and Chic-sampling “Lady,” as if to recreate the magic of their 2014 collaboration “Mmm Yeah.” Other featured artists include Juicy J (“Love at Night”) and 2 Chainz (“Shake It For Me”).
The second phase of this comeback takes place on New Year’s Eve, when Austin joins Pitbull on stage for the live premiere of “Lady” during Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution, 11 p.m. EST on FOX. According to a press release, Austin’s long-delayed debut album will also be released next year.
