Charli XCX is prepping her third album for a May release, and she just revealed she’s going to drop a mixtape as a holdover before then. This is great news for longtime fans, as the two mixtapes she released in 2012 ahead of her debut album showcased some of her strongest bedroom pop instincts.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Charli stressed for the nth time that album three is all about partying, with a substantial role from SOPHIE and her PC Music cohorts. “Sophie [a.k.a. Samuel Long] is pretty involved. There are some classic Sophie moments, and we reach the dip-into-the-club-at–4 a.m. kind of zone, but the thing about him is that he’s also an incredible pop producer,” she said. “So there’s him doing pop really well on the album.”

And Lil Yachty isn’t the only feature: “There might be a special feature but I can’t really talk about who that is. But I’m doing a mixtape also that will come out before then and I’ve been working with lots of fun people on that.”

In addition to that, Charli landed a recent Rostam collab and has a new duet with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on the way. It’s shaping up to be a big winter/spring for the Brit, giving her some momentum and material heading into that Gov Ball gig.
