Steps To Return In 2017
UK pop group Steps is reuniting (again) and plans to release a new LP in 2017.

Infernal follows in the footsteps of Steps and All Saints as the latest ’00s pop outfit to launch a comeback. The Danish duo, who landed a massive international hit in 2004 with “From Paris To Berlin” (their similarly-titled and oft-rereleased album is a time capsule of exuberant mid-’00s euro-pop), released a new single in December called “Hurricane.” It’s Lina and Paw’s first single under the Infernal moniker since 2013’s stand-alone track, “Can’t Go Back.” Their last album arrived way back in 2010.

I enjoy a dose of nostalgia as much as anyone, but the vast majority of legacy acts return with dated and underwhelming tunes. (I could name names but I’m trying to keep it cute in 2017). The same can’t be said of “Hurricane.” This taps into the duo’s darker, more somber side — think “Ten Miles.” However, the production is very much of the here and now, tapping into the downtempo dance trend currently ruling radio thanks to hits like “Cold Water” and “Let Me Love You.” Watch Infernal perform their very good new single on Danish TV below.
