SZA Returns With “Drew Barrymore”

SZA‘s career trajectory is anybody’s guess at this point: She appeared on albums from Rihanna and Kendrick in 2016, then basically announced her retirement from music back in October, but still plans to release her debut album. Overnight on Kimmel she revealed it’s called CTRL (what does that mean for the fate of the long-awaited A?), and the first taste is “Drew Barrymore.”

The TDE singer shows off an emotional range to match her vocal one, with the song starting as a Netflix and chill proposition before diving into self-doubt. As for the title, your guess is as good as mine. It was produced by Scum and Carter Lang, and the laid back live drum vibe is reminiscent of her ANTI collab “Consideration.”
