Cody Lovaas’ “Lie”: Listen To The Insanely Catchy Pop-Rock Gem

You know what’s been largely missing from pop in recent years? Guitars.

Thankfully, Southern California singer-songwriter-surfer Cody Lovaas marries pop melodies with some good ol’-fashioned rock sensibility on his new single “Lie,” which Idolator is premiering today. In fact, don’t be surprised if the song give you bit of John Mayer vibe, as Mayer has been one Lovaas’ musical inspirations in life.

As for the tune itself, Cody tells us, “‘Lie’ portrays a character trait I find very important: honesty. I wrote this song with the very talented Jake Scott. ‘Lie’ came relatively quickly to us when we were writing because it comes from my personal experiences. The message throughout this song is choosing honesty over manipulation.”

“Lie” is Cody’s first major single since being discovered by Jason Mraz at the age of 14 (and touring with him in 2015).  To us, the song is breezy and carefree-sounding. Could you ask for a better combination while soldiering through these uncertain days we’re living in?

Give Cody Lovaas’ “Lie” a listen above, and let us know your thoughts on it below.
