Lights Lends Her Voice To Steve James’ Feisty “Warrior”

2016 was a massive year for Steve James behind the boards. The 18-year-old delivered a killer remix of Conrad Sewell’s “Remind Me,” co-produced Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha’s chart-conquering “In The Name Of Love” and was rewarded with a Grammy nomination for his work on Justin Bieber’s Purpose LP. He also chipped away at his own music, but didn’t get around to releasing anything new until today (January 27). A collaboration with Canadian synth/pop diva Lights, “Warrior” is a chest-pounding anthem with a gnarly drop.

“I’m not stopping for you, I’m a fucking warrior,” Lights growls on the monstrous chorus. “Walking through fire like I never learned, waited forever and now it’s my turn. Stronger than ever, I’m ready to burn.” This is the perfect soundtrack for the end of the world. It’s also great to hear Lights on something new (where’s her 4th album?) and witness the evolution of Steve as he continues to grow as a producer and experiment with bolder, weirder sounds. “Warrior” was co-penned by songwriter/heartthrob Evan Bogart and rising Kiwi Gladius.
