Alessia Cara Impersonates Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj & Lorde On ‘The Tonight Show’: Watch
“Why am I more nervous for this than my actual performances?” Alessia Cara said last night (February 3) on The Tonight Show.
She was the latest contestant on “Wheel of Musical Impressions,” where pop stars impersonate other pop stars while singing nursery rhymes and jingles. But while you’d expect the singer behind smash loner hit anthem “Here” to act shy, what was even more surprising was that she nailed every round.
Alessia ended up impersonating Ariana Grande singing “Skidamarink” and Nicki Minaj rapping The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme. But it was her impression of Lorde doing “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” with a husky voice and even her “claw” that appears during live performances, that sealed her victory.
Alessia appeared on The Tonight Show ahead of her Saturday Night Live debut tonight (February 4) — an accomplishment that she predicted would happen five years ago. Watch her score big with “Wheel of Musical Impressions” up top, then talk her career milestones below.
