Beyonce & Jay Z Feature On DJ Khaled’s Surprise Single “Shining”

Well, Beyonce was robbed at the Grammys. “Formation” lost Record Of The Year to Adele’s “Hello” and Lemonade came up short against 25. While voters refused to get in formation, choosing polite elevator music over important, zeitgeist-capturing bops, there is a silver lining to this otherwise infuriating evening. Queen Bey just dropped a new single! She joins Jay Z as a featured artist on DJ Khaled’s surprise single, “Shining.” And, you guessed it, it’s a Tidal exclusive.

“Shining, shining, shining,” Beyonce sings on the chorus. “All of this winning, hold up (hold up) — don’t try to put me down, hold up (hold up) — don’t try to slow me down.” It gets even better in the verses when the mega-selling diva dusts off her rap game (previously on display on “Yonce”) and spits razor-sharp bars. It’s Hov’s turn next, and he delivers a cute verse about his family and his success (mentioning his 21 Grammys and 12 platinum albums is cute). This is a serious coup for DJ Khaled. “Shining” was co-written by PARTYNEXTDOOR. Stream it below.
