UK producers Just Us went viral last year when they dropped an unofficial remix of Kate Bush’s “Cloudbusting” called “Everytime It Rains.” The song won Pete Tong’s support and became an instant SoundCloud hit. There was talk of the bootleg being released as official single, but the pop icon nixed that idea. As a result, a reworked version of the track arrives this week without Kate’s iconic vocals. Instead, it has a sound-alike diva and a more commercial, radio-friendly sound.

I’m torn. “Cloudbusting” is one of my favorite songs of all time. Everything Kate touched in the ’80s turned to gold, but this has to rank as the wildest and wackiest entry in her holy discography. As such, the thought of it being defiled hurts my heart. On the other hand, those strings work so well in club music — as Utah Saints first proved 25 years ago with “Something Good.” So, I’d be lying to say I didn’t like this. I just wish Kate cleared the demo because it was infinitely better. Listen below.
