Lana Del Rey's Cosmic "Love" Video
The past, present and future collide in Lana Del Rey's cosmic "Love" video.

Lana Del Rey’s new single, “Love,” arrived on Saturday (February 18) and surprised fans with its sweeping, cinematic sound. After experimenting with hazy rock on Ultraviolence and chamber music (and every other imaginable genre) on Honeymoon, the dark-pop legend appeared to have come full circle. She confirms that suspicion in a new phone interview with the BBC. “I guess the last two records… I definitely was in a place where I wanted to hear mood music,” the dreamy singer admits. “Almost stuff that I would kind of like to listen to at home.”

“You know, stuff I recorded live in a room with a band like all at once,” Lana elaborates. “Now I guess that I’m a couple of years down the line away from the Ultraviolence record, I think I had more I wanted to say and I wanted it to come through a little bit more clearly, so it was fun to get back into that really big, clean sound.” As for the rest of the album? “[‘Love’] is a good representation of where it’s headed, where the sound is headed.” I’m well and truly on board!
