Tina Arena is releasing a 2-disc greatest hits collection to mark her 40th year in the business. (She started really early!) “This year I’m celebrating 40 years in showbiz,” the Aussie icon mused on Instagram. “Who would have that that 9 year old girl on TV four decades ago would end up here? I couldn’t let this year pass without doing something really special, so we’ve created a new double album.” This is where it gets really interesting. Greatest Hits & Interpretations takes a rather innovative approach.

“Disc #1 is called RETROSPECTIVE and it is a definitive collection of all my singles,” Tina explains. “From the 1990s cracker, “I Need Your Body” to my most recent song, “I Want To Love You.” It also features “Burn,” “Chains,” “Heaven Help My Heart,” “Wasn’t It Good,” “You Set Fire To My Life” and “Now I Can Dance.” Happily, she didn’t forget the iconic “Soul Mate #9” from her edgy early ’00s phase. (I checked!) The other disc is comprised of other artists singing her classics — including fellow Young Talent Time alum, Dannii Minogue.

“Disc #2 is called REIMAGINE and it features some of my favourite musicians, reinterpreting songs from my career,” the 49-year-old writes. Artists include Morgan Evans, Clare Bowen, Jimmy Barnes, Katie Noonan, Kate Miller-Heike, Jessica Mauboy, Alex Hope, Ben Abraham, Ainslie Wills, David Thibault and The Veronicas. I’m particularly excited about her duet with Dannii. They tackle Tina’s 1995 “Sorrento Moon” (below). Other highlights include a surprise cover of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart.” The album drops April 7. Aussies can pre-order here. The rest of us will have to wait.
