Ed Sheeran swears he is a fan of hip-hop — remember his joint double album with The Game? So when he appeared on The Breakfast Club on March 10, for his second appearance there to promote Divide, he ended up trying to rap Nicki Minaj‘s verse on Kanye West‘s “Monster.”
Host Charlamagne tha God was actually asking the “Shape of You” singer-songwriter to weigh in on Remy Ma‘s diss track “Shether.” Ed didn’t exactly take sides, so he offered to rap instead, despite being four shots in during a morning radio appearance. He gets a B+ for effort, though if her Carpool Karaoke appearance is any indication, charts competition Adele has him beat in terms of enunciation. At least Nicki herself approves.
