Katy Perry & Lady Gaga Dropped Club Remixes On The Same Day
New remixes from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga got lost in the chaos of New Music Friday, but they are well worth checking out. The woke-pop goddess turns to Hot Chip for a dizzying overhaul of “Chained To The Rhythm.” They deliver a mishmash of distorted vocals, thumping bass and flittering synths. I particularly like the extended outro, which is also my favorite part of the original. It’s cool and quirky, and yet another indication that Katy isn’t playing it safe this time around.
Mother Monster, on the other hand, seems to have learned a lesson from the negative reaction to “Perfect Illusion” and now seems intent on giving fans exactly what they want it — be it a Fame Monster-heavy Super Bowl performance or a commercial house remix of “Million Reasons.” The ballad has been transformed into a Chainsmokers-esque electro-pop single by Andrelli. This wouldn’t sound out of place on pop radio and I wouldn’t be surprised if some stations start playing it instead of the original. Listen to both remixes below.
