Beth Ditto Announces Debut LP, 'Fake Sugar'
Finally! Beth Ditto reveals the cover and tracklist of debut LP, 'Fake Sugar.'

Beth Ditto made a (very) welcome return to the music scene last with punchy rock anthem, “Fire.” The grungy, southern track not only showcases the Gossip frontwoman’s gravelly vocals, but also boasts a catchy pop chorus. In other words, it’s one hell of song. The Price James-directed video arrives today (April 7) and it’s a raucous ride. From the singer’s glorious satin suit to the rowdy fighting and unexpected square-dancing, everything about this is perfect. Did I mention that she steals a corn dog with a whip?

At this rate, the 36-year-old’s long-overdue debut LP can’t come quick enough. Fake Sugar drops June 16 via Virgin Records and it finds Beth ruminating on matters of the heart. At least if the titles like “Go Baby Go,” “Love in Real Life” and “Lover” are any indication. The Arkansas native dropped a solo EP way back in 2011, but it found her experimenting with club sounds. As much as I love “I Wrote The Book” (actually, every song on that EP was good), this feels like a more authentic fit. Watch the video up top.
