We speak to gnash about "I Hate U, I Love U," feelings and his EPs.

We’re excited to premiere the video for Mod Sun’s “Beautiful Problem,” a highlight of the rapper’s new Movie LP. “[It’s] very special to me because it’s really the first time I’ve written about love and relationships and I really felt it was important to have both sides represented in this song, male and female,” he says of the catchy, captivating track. To make that happen, the Minnesota native called on a couple of his favorite artists, including his long-time friend, gnash.

“I’ve known gnash since he was in high school and he’s always been a great friend,” Mod Sun says. “The second I wrote ‘Beautiful Problem,’ I knew it was the one. We can both relate to young love and relationships and I love what he brought to the song.” As for the female component? “My idea for the hook was to have the sound of my lover’s voice stuck in my head working through the problem. The beautiful problem. There was no one else that fit this song better than Maty Noyes. Her voice is so unique and she really added another dimension to the track.”

The video puts a decidedly dark spin on the track. It finds Mod Sun reflecting on his life after a chance encounter goes horribly wrong. There’s blood, violence and a lot of emotion. Maty is particularly memorable as an ice-cold femme fatale. Watch the video below and see the rapper’s tour dates at the bottom of the post. You can buy/stream his new album here.
