LeToya Luckett Unveils Cover & Tracklist Of Third LP ‘Back 2 Life’

Finally! LeToya Luckett’s first album in eight, long years drops on May 12. The former Destiny’s Child diva unveiled the cover and tracklist of Back 2 Life today (April 10), which promises to be a return to the smooth R&B of her debut LP if the Soul II Soul-sampling title track is any indication. As for the tracklist, there are a couple of surprises. 2014 single “Don’t Make Me Wait” and 2015 track “I’m Ready” didn’t make the cute. She also reunites with Ludacris on a song called “Grey.”

I’m excited for LeToya’s new era. The 36-year-old always stayed in her soulful lane, never veering into pop or opting for a hip-hop crossover. At her best (“Regret,” “Torn” and the fiery “Not Anymore”), she was a throwback to the smooth, emotional R&B sound of the ’80s and ’90s, albeit with on-trend production.
