Cher has been unusually active in 2017. When the pop legend isn’t performing in Las Vegas as part of her Classic Cher residency, she’s raising awareness for important issues — via her iconic Twitter account and in person. The 70-year-old threw her support behind a new movie called The Promise last night (April 12), walking the red carpet with Kim Kardashian. Why? The big-budget film, which stars Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac, is about the Armenian genocide — an issue close to their hearts.

The “Woman’s World” singer didn’t contribute to the soundtrack of The Promise, but she does have a new song in a documentary called Cries From Syria. Written by Diane Warren and produced by Piers Baron, the moving ballad is a powerful cry for peace. It features The West Los Angeles Children’s Choir and is guaranteed to pull on your heartstrings. Listen below. Given that Cher is in an unusually prolific mood, is it too much to hope for the follow-up to Closer To The Truth? It’s been four, long years!
