Alessia Cara wrote a song for 'Anti' album, but Rihanna didn't use it.

The Get Down II soundtrack is shaping up to be an essential listening experience if the buzz singles are any indication. DJ Cassidy’s star-studded “Honor” was a recent New Music Friday highlight — a feat Alessia Cara repeats with “The Other Side,” a soaring ballad about moving forward in life. “These streets aren’t easy and I need your hand to hold so I’m not alone,” the Canadian sings. “And I hear all these voices, know they try to slow me down. I can tune them out.”

The song really takes off on the theatrical chorus. “Somewhere far, far away, beyond the crowded city lights out of the darkness we can shine,” Alessia wails. “So I’m packing my bags, I’m gonna leave it all behind. I wanna open up my eyes and see you on the other side.” The 20-year-old is on fire at the moment thanks to the radio and chart success of “Scars To Your Beautiful” and Zedd collaboration, “Stay.” You can stream the rising star’s latest track below from midnight (EST) tonight.
