Tinashe’s Flame “Video” Feels Like An Afterthought
Tinashe’s “Flame” video is a little underwhelming. The 24-year-old snuggles with her man until circumstances change and she goes all Waiting To Exhale. There’s a little underwater photography, some cute cuddling and a sexy set-up by the pool. It would be perfectly fine for any other rising star, but the “2 On” diva established herself as one of the most exciting visual artists in the game with “All Hands On Deck” (it even won the praise of Kanye West) and backed it up with great videos for “Supalove” and “Company.”
To be honest, I prefer to the choreography video Tee put out a couple of weeks ago. It’s more engaging and serves as a better showcase of her talent. As for “Flame,” it’s a cute little pop song that was apparently recorded two years ago. The track hasn’t really connected at radio or on Spotify, but the video should help it out. Where does she go from here? Fans really lap up her edgier alt-R&B material, but I think she has higher aspirations than Twitter acclaim. Tinashe just needs the right song. Hopefully, everything else will just fall into place.
