Some songs find an audience immediately, others take a little longer to connect. Take LAUV’s “The Other.” Originally released in 2015, the soulful (pre) break-up anthem was championed early by Chloë Grace Moretz and Liam Payne, and has continued to snowball in popularity ever since. The 22-year-old’s debut single has now been streamed a staggering 71 million times on Spotify and should find even more love with the arrival of a video, which examines the final, flickering moments of a relationship.

“I wrote this song in my basement in New York City while going through one of the most confusing and painful times of my life, my first real heartbreak,” LAUV tells Idolator. “Reliving it all in one day for this video was an emotionally exhausting but cathartic experience.” The shadowy, neon-lit visual suits the track’s gloomy tone and boasts some first rate emoting from the singer/songwriter. We are excited to premiere the clip up top.
