Songwriter Emily Warren Announces Debut Single “Hurt By You”
With artists like Sia, Bebe Rexha and Julia Michaels making the leap from songwriter to artist look easy, fans and labels are starting to pay a lot more attention to the people behind the hits. In an era when authenticity is key, it makes sense to cut out the middle man (or woman) and go straight to the source. The latest double-threat to make the transition is Emily Warren, who recently tweeted: “S/O TO ALL MY FELLOW SONGWRITERS WHO’VE BEEN BEHIND THE SCENES AND R NOW PUTTING THEIR OWN MUSIC OUT I SEE U N ITS THE 60S ALL OVER AGAIN.”
The caps-loving hitmaker’s debut single is called “Hurt By You” and it drops on Friday (May 5). Emily shared a brief snippet on Instagram and it sounds like an emotional piano ballad. The 24-year-old, who recently landed a streaming smash as the voice of FRENSHIP’s “Capsize,” has been on fire lately — penning hits for Noah Cyrus, The Chainsmokers, Alessia Cara, Little Mix, Sean Paul, Melanie Martinez, Becky G and Jessie J.
