Thomas Rhett & Maren Morris’ Violent “Craving You” Video

The hot trend in music videos appears to be presenting a narrative that has absolutely no correlation to the song. Zedd and Alessia’s euphoric “Stay” was paired with a depressing tale of lost love, while the visual for Kygo and Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me” plays out in the emergency room of a hospital. (An odd choice for a biting kiss-off anthem). You can add Thomas Rhett and Maren Morris’ “Craving You” clip to that list. The perky country/pop anthem is now the soundtrack of a violent blockbuster.

There’s a lot going on in this 5 minute+ extravaganza. In fact, I gave up on the narrative about halfway through. From what I can tell, Maren is a bad ass thief who is robbing banks as politely as she can. She joins forces with Rhett somewhere along the way and they get into lots of trouble until he reveals himself as an undercover cop. It doesn’t make a lot of sense and I would have honestly preferred a live video of them on stage but I guess this is the nu-country equivalent of late ’00s Gaga video. Watch up top.
