Katy Perry opens up about the direction of her new LP in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s really quite brave,” she says of the opus, which may or may not be called Witness. “Sonically, it’s fun and dance-y and dark and light. It’s all of these things. It definitely is a change.” The 32-year-old even gave specifics. There are 15 songs on the album including “Bigger Than Me,” which is dedicated to Hillary Clinton, and a club banger called “Swish Swish.” Singles “Chained To The Rhythm” and “Bon Appetit” are included.

“I left my 20s and I’ve gone to my 30s,” Katy says of her influences. “I’ve embraced. I’ve surrendered. I’ve healed some of my issues with my family, with my relationships. Today I’m sober but I don’t know about tomorrow! One day at a time, right? It’s all kind of beautiful.” She then gets real about her identity. “I built up Katy Perry and she was so fun,” the pop star declares. “And I still am Katy Perry and I love her so much but, at the core, I’m Katheryn Hudson and I think that’s being revealed as I embrace who I really am.”

The interviewer also asked for a response to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” The hitmaker dodged that bullet, but dropped this gem. “You can’t mistake kindness for weakness and don’t come for me,” she says. “Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. Anyone. And that’s not to any one person and don’t quote me that it is, because it’s not. It’s not about that.” She wound things up on a positive note. “Honestly, when women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story.” Read the full interview here.
