Demi Lovato Enters Another Dimension In Cheat Codes’ “No Promises” Video
Demi Lovato and Cheat Codes’ summery “No Promises” has charted around the globe and racked up more than 50 million streams on Spotify, but is yet to dent the Billboard Hot 100. Which is surprising because it has all the ingredients of a smash — a fabulous featured vocalist, a massive drop and a huge chorus. It might get a second wind with the arrival of the video, which finds the collaborators partying in a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland. There’s also a little interdimensional travel and a magical prism that randomly appears throughout.
I don’t really know what’s going on and, to be honest, I don’t care. Demi looks amazing and it’s fun — unlike the unnecessarily depressing clips for Zedd & Alessia Cara’s “Stay” and Kygo & Selena Gomez’s “It Ain’t Me.” This won’t be the only video we get from the Confident diva this year. She is chipping away at her fifth album, which is expected to focus more on her vocals than hopping on the next pop trend. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the first single in the next couple of months. In the meantime, watch “No Promises” up top.
