Selena Gomez rolls out the first taste of her third solo LP (sixth over all) later this week and she faces some stiff competition. The 24-year-old will go head-to-head with Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” and Camila Cabello’s “Crying In The Club.” Iggy Azalea and Anitta will also be in the mix with their Katy Perry-approved bop “Switch.” Time will tell who comes out on top, but Selena’s “Bad Liar” campaign has a pleasing air of mystery about it. From the whimsical cover art to the complete lack of video teasers, she’s playing her cards close to her chest.

That makes the arrival of a couple lyrics a cause for mass hysteria on social media. The “Hands To Myself” hitmaker shared the following lines: “Trying not to think about you,” “trying to play it coy” and “trying to distract myself.” That hints at the song being a sexy, playful anthem instead of the bitter kiss-off many expected from the title. Selena co-wrote the song with Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels and Ian Kirkpatrick. It arrives on Thursday (May 18) and is expected to become her 8th top 10 hit. See the lyrics below.
