Astrid S Talks "Breathe" & Her New EP
We speak to Astrid S about "Breathe," Scandi-pop and her new EP.

Astrid S’ winning streak continues with “Party’s Over,” the title track of her second EP (due June 30). After venturing into bubbly electro-pop on (the brilliant) “Breathe,” the Norwegian pop star retreated to her comfort zone of moody, restrained electronica on “Bloodstream.” And that’s where she remains on her latest. “Party’s Over” is an emotional break-up song that finds the 20-year-old pleading for one more night over the kind of pristine syth-scape that only comes from Scandinavia. It’s sad and pretty and very, very good.

“Pour all the champagne, make it rain, have our own parade,” Astrid begins the song. “We don’t feel a thing, Chardonnay running through our veins.” She has a change of heart by the chorus, however. “And don’t say the party’s over, ’cause we’ve got time to let it go,” the rising star wails. “And don’t say we’re leaving sober, just stay the night don’t take me home.” Check out the tracklist for Astrid’s Party’s Over EP, which is shaping up to be a must-hear, and listen to the majestic title track below.
