Katy Perry Performs “Swish Swish” & “Bon Appetit” On ‘SNL’: Watch
If Katy Perry is throwing a party, then everyone is invited. That seemed to be the point of last night’s Saturday Night Live season finale set, her third time performing at the sketch comedy show.
Nicki Minaj didn’t show up for the live debut of Witness single “Swish Swish,” unfortunately. In her place, though, was a full-on drag runway featuring ’90s New York City club kids-turned-RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants, along with Rihanna‘s favorite Instagram star, 15-year-old Russell Got Barzz. For “Bon Appetit,” Katy contorted her body on a banquet table before turning it to a stage for herself and featured rap trio Migos.
Weeks ago Katy, Human Rights Commission award winner, was criticized for working with rappers who made homophobic comments just earlier this year. As if with that in mind, she turned her SNL performance into a gesture of sorts. “Big s/o to my LGBTQ family, all the Queens & Migos for showing unity & respect,” Katy said on Twitter.
SO. FUN. #SwishSwish & #Bonappetit on #SNLFinale tonight! Big s/o to my LGBTQ family, all the Queens & @Migos for showing unity & respect 👊🏻
