Jessica Simpson Hit The Studio With Linda Perry
It looks like Jessica Simpson's 8th LP is (very) slowly but surely coming together.

Jessica Simpson has been hinting at a comeback since at least 2015, but it could finally happen this year. During a recent TV interview, the carpet-loving diva showed off her home studio and even played an unreleased demo. “This is the place where I create,” she beamed. “I feel like it’s my home, it’s my cove.” As for the song? Well, it’s a country-tinged ballad that includes the following lyrics: “I’m not a prisoner, I’m here of my own free will.” It wouldn’t sound out of place on 2008’s Do You Know.

“I have no record deal,” Jessica admitted. “I am my own record deal, which is so empowering to say. Nobody has to tell me what to look like, nobody has to tell me what music sounds good.” The 36-year-old promised to release a new album later this year, her first since 2010’s festive opus Happy Christmas. As for collaborators? We know she’s been in the studio with Linda Perry, so expect ballads and introspective singer/songwriter fare. Watch the much-missed pop star’s interview below.
