Important: Sisqo Teams Up With JCY For “Thong Song” Remake
File this under things I didn’t think I would be writing about in 2017! Sisqo is re-releasing Y2K classic “Thong Song” on Friday (June 9). More accurately, Norwegian trio JCY (pronounced Juicy) is dropping a remix featuring the silver-haired sex symbol’s vocal. This is the first official remake of the enduring bop since 1999. And it should be a lot of fun. “Thong Song” still goes hard 18 years (how?) later and JCY certainly knows how to craft a banger, if streaming smash “Wasting Your Time” is any indication.
After finding fame as the lead singer of ’90s R&B group Dru Hill, Sisqo decided to go solo in 1999. He landed a minor hit with “Got To Get It,” but caught lightning in a bottle with the second single from Unleash The Dragon. “The Thong Song” was a massive hit around the globe and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It lives on as a party staple, karaoke classic and go-to soundtrack for strip clubs. There’s no word if the 38-year-old crooner will promote the remix or appear in the video, but I have my fingers crossed. Watch the iconic video below.
