The past, present and future collide in Lana Del Rey's cosmic 'Love' video.

As the clock ticks down on the release of Lana Del Rey‘s latest LP Lust for Life, the singer has unleashed two new promotional singles today (July 12). The tracks, “Summer Bummer” and “Groupie Love,” feature verses from her friend and frequent collaborator A$AP Rocky as well as up-and-coming rapper Playboi Carti. Both of the releases are hazy and romantic, just like you would expect from the sad chanteuse.

Of the two tracks, “Summer Bummer” emerges as a clear highlight. Opening with an orchestral arrangement, the track descends into a trap-infused production reminiscent of Lana’s work on Born to Die. “Can’t get you out of my veins, you can’t escape my affection, wrap you up in my daisy chains,” she croons to a lover as the production transitions from dreamy to pulsing and almost threatening. Her voice is as ethereal as ever, and it delicately floats across the soundscape. Rocky and Carti deliver equally compelling performances and tether LDR’s vocals to the track.

“Groupie Love” feels more like a follow-up to her last LP, Honeymoon, as she delves into the relationship between artist and groupie over meandering synths. Rocky’s verse is cool and collected, and Lana’s voice is as sensual as possible as it caresses the layered production. The track is tinged in a sense of somberness as Lana pledges her affection to her famous lover and attempts to come to grips with sharing him with an audience.

The new tracks join lead single “Love,” the The Weeknd-assisted “Lust for Life,” and promotional single “Coachella-Woodstock in My Mind” on the album, which is set to drop July 21. The project is shaping up to be an eclectic mix, and there’s more to come including a collaboration with rock legend Stevie Nicks. “We made a lot of good ones, but I think we picked the best ones for the record,” Lana said. Everything we’ve heard thus far has confirmed just that. Listen to her new tracks below.
