Sia's 'This Is Acting': Album Review
We break down the Australian singer's reject-filled LP, 'This Is Acting.'

Sleigh bells ring, can you hear them? Although Christmas is four months away, Sia is getting her most festive wigs in order and dreaming of decking the halls with boughs of holly. Today (August 1) she announced an upcoming holiday project to commemorate the most wonderful time of the year. The currently untitled LP is set to be released under a new international partnership with Atlantic Records, and the release date is forthcoming.

Fans looking forward to the “Chandelier” singer belting out Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (or even her new festive single “The Star”) are out of luck. Instead of putting her own spin on classic Christmas standards, the collection will be comprised of new material composed by Sia and her longtime collaborator Greg Kurstin. It will be interesting to hear their take on the festive season, and it’s safe to say that there will be a handful of soaring ballads on the album.

Although it has been more than a year since she unleashed her last full length project, This Is Acting, in the first quarter of 2016, the in-demand songstress has kept busy. This year alone she appeared on Stargate’s “Waterfall” alongside Pink, composed and performed the stirring “Free Me” for the #endHIV campaign, and wrote on Ariana Grande and Cashmere Cat’s stunning “Quit.” Most recently she contributed another original song to Wonder Woman, cementing her title as the new queen of the soundtrack. No stranger to working behind the scenes as a songwriter to the stars, she is exploring new waters and directing her first feature film set to star her favorite dancer Maddie Ziegler. Basically, Sia is the gift that keeps giving, and her next treat will be dropping before Christmas 2017.
