Girls' Generation Announces 'Holiday Night'
Girls' Generation will celebrate their 10th anniversary by dropping a new album.

Little Mix and Fifth Harmony have done a decent job of bringing girl groups back to the West, but they still can’t offer everything that K-Pop can. While they’re good at over-sexualized hip-hop and angsty break-up anthems, they just don’t know how to have good clean fun like the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud did. Thankfully, bubblegum pop is still alive and well in Korea, especially when it comes to Girls’ Generation, who deliver a double dose of frothy pop perfection with their two new singles “Holiday” and “All Night.”

On the summer-ready “Holiday,” the girls sing with all the pep of a cheerleading squad over a big, brassy dance production. The chorus, a dynamic chant of “Ha-ha-holiday!,” is guaranteed to wedge itself into your brain after just one spin. There’s a real retro-meets-modern flavor to “Holiday” which carries over to “All Night,” a funky nu-disco anthem that sounds like Girls’ Generation turning a teenage slumber party into Studio 54. Even if you don’t listen to K-Pop, these tracks are absolute must-haves for any pop playlist this summer. In fact, Girls’ Generation’s entire Holiday Night album is worth checking out if you’re craving something a little sweeter and purer than what American radio is offering these days.
