Louis Tomlinson, Bebe Rexha, & More Perform At The 2017 Teen Choice Awards
Last night (August 13) the 2017 Teen Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles, and the event brought together a slew of famous faces from music, television, film and other sections of entertainment. One of the night’s big winners was the noticeably absent (but apologetic) Miley Cyrus, who was awarded the “Ultimate Choice” award for her continued presence at the show. Boho songstress turned actress Vanessa Hudgens took home the “See Her” award, which recognized her for bringing women to the forefront of entertainment.
Music’s highest honors went to Harry Styles for Choice Male Artist and Ariana Grande for Choice Female Artist, while other winners in musical categories included Fifth Harmony (Choice Music Group), Beyonce (Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist), Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson (Choice Music Collaboration) and Chance the Rapper (Choice Breakout Artist).
Although the show handed out more than 25 music-specific awards, it was a relatively quiet night for performances. Louis and Bebe Rexha took the stage to deliver a moody rendition of their blazing mid-tempo “Back To You.” Opening their set on opposite sides of the stage, the “I Got You” siren performed in front of a mirrored set piece before joining the former boy bander for some tender moments as the song developed. After debuting just within the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, the performance will likely give the song a bit of a boost on the charts and could jumpstart a solid solo career for the 25-year-old crooner.
Clean Bandit headlined the night’s only other performance, hitting the stage for a medley. The trio opened with an acoustic rendition of “Rockabye” that featured rising artist Leroy Sanchez’s crystalline vocals before bringing out Zara Larsson to perform a rousing rendition of their 2017 bop “Symphony.” Channelling a disco ball in a sequined gown, the Swede pop princess got the audience dancing along to the summery single.
