Lana Del Rey's Cosmic 'Love' Video
The past, present and future collide in Lana Del Rey's cosmic 'Love' video.

For better or worse (I’m leaning towards the latter), Lana Del Rey’s biggest hit remains the Cedric Gervais remix of “Summertime Sadness.” Which makes it a little surprising that 32-year-old shies away from anything uptempo. The dream-pop goddess isn’t going to dilute her vision to be more accessible, but she could occasionally delegate it to someone else. Like BloodPop. The in-demand producer dropped a brilliant overhaul of “Lust For Life” on Friday (August 25) and it probably would have been massive if issued at the same time as the video.

BloodPop is having a blockbuster 2017, both behind the scenes (Haim’s “Want You Back”) and as an artist. He recently teamed up with Justin Bieber for “Friends” and promptly landed a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The prolific producer has also remixed everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Beyonce, so he knows how to treat source material with respect — meaning his very modern version of “Lust For Life” still sounds grand and vaguely vintage. Lana also dropped a Clams Casino remix of “Summer Bummer,” but that’s more of an acquired taste. Listen to both below.
