The Drop: Miriam Bryant & Phoebe Ryan
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring Miriam Bryant & Phoebe.

Phoebe Ryan has been on a tear in 2017, dropping a string of quirky alt-pop anthems that examine matters of the heart with honesty and a razor-sharp wit. “Dark Side,” a banger about embracing your lover’s flaws, and “Forgetting All About You” (the most relatable break-up anthem in recent memory) set the tone for her new EP, but “Be Real” proves that she’s full of surprises. A vulnerable, lilting slow jam about relationship inertia, this is Phoebe’s best single to date and her best chance of nabbing a radio hit.

A streaming friendly remix by NOTD (comprised of Tobias Danielsson and Samuel Brandt) will only help its chances. “I really love the vibe they brought to it,” Phoebe says off the teenage duo’s overhaul. “When I heard it for the first time there was a lot of head banging. In a good way, not like against a wall, like metal. Head banging. Especially during that chorus. Listen to it and you’ll know what I mean.” Follow the rising star’s advice and press play below. It might be wise to have a neck brace handy.
