Maluma On His Next Album & Cracking America
We speak to Maluma about his next, bilingual album and cracking America.

Maluma is one of the breakout stars of 2017, racking up a strings of hit singles and amassing a whopping 5 billion views on his YouTube channel. Those achievements have been rewarded with 7 nominations at the upcoming Latin Grammys. He is represented three times (!) in the Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year categories for the sexy “Felices Los 4” as well as his hit collaborations with Ricky Martin (“Vente Pa’ Ca”) and Shakira (“Chantaje”). “Chantaje” is also represented in the Best Urban Fusion/Performance category.

The 23-year-old has already conquered the Latin market, but he’s not content with that. “I don’t want leave out my Spanish or my Latin world, but I want to grow in this American world,” Maluma revealed when I interviewed him in March. “And to do it, I have to do it in English, because if I don’t, they are not going to understand what I say. So yes, I want to release some music in English, but I will try to keep the balance — songs in Spanish and English.” He spent some time in the studio with Timbaland in July, so expect something his English debut soon-ish.
