Demi Lovato bares her heart on sixth studio album, 'Tell Me You Love Me.'

Demi Lovato opened up about personal tragedies and professional struggles in the newly-released trailer for her documentary, Simply Complicated. Set for release on October 17, the YouTube-exclusive project is the latest in a slew of pop documentaries announced by the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Pink. Today (October 10), she offered fans a glimpse of what the project would cover in its first teaser.

“One thing I’ll never stop doing is being honest,” she vows in the opening moments of the trailer. Things get very honest very fast as she and some of her closest friends, family and advisors recount her personal struggles that culminated in a trip to rehab for drug abuse and an eating disorder in 2010 and 2011. Things move forward to the recording of Tell Me You Love Me, as the “Sorry Not Sorry” siren addresses nearly 5 and a half years of sobriety and how she is moving forward. “I am on a journey to discover what it is like to be free of all demons. When I am comfortable in my own skin I feel confident. When I feel confident I feel sexy. When I feel sexy, watch out,” the 25-year-old confidently proclaimed.

Demi also encouraged fans to subscribe to her YouTube channel to check out additional teasers that she is set to drop ahead of Simply Complicated’s release date. In the sea of pop documentaries set for release this quarter, it looks like the “Daddy Issues” siren’s is shaping up to be one of the most eye-opening. Check out the newly released trailer below.
