St. Vincent Teases ‘MASSEDUCTION’ With Intoxicating “Pills”
St. Vincent’s fifth LP, MASSEDUCTION, arrives later this week (on October 13, to be exact) and it promises to be the singer/songwriter’s most pop-centric offering to date. The Grammy winner signaled her intent on lead single “New York,” which stands out as one of the year’s best, before reminding us that she hasn’t lost any of her edge on “Los Ageless” and new buzz track “Pills.” The latter explores our dependence on chemical assistance over electro-pop beats and boasts additional vocals from Jenny Lewis.
“I spent a year suspended in air, my mind on the gap, my head on the stairs,” St. Vincent sings in the opening verse. “From healers to dealers and then back again, from guru to voodoo and voodoo to zen.” That takes us to the biting chorus. “Pills to wake, pills to sleep, pills, pills, pills every day of the week,” she lists. “Pills to walk, pills to think, pills, pills, pills for the family.” Check out the iconoclast’s catchy new track below and pre-order MASSEDUCTION here.
