Taylor Swift finally seems to be amping up the promo ahead of the release of her sixth studio album, Reputation. Last weekend she hosted a listening party for some of her biggest fans in London and shot what seems to be a music video for the project’s next single. Today (October 19), she announced a new song from the album called “Gorgeous,” and it is dropping at midnight tonight.
She announced the release on her Instagram account and uploaded a short snippet of the track. In the preview, a baby’s voice says “gorgeous” over some delightful synths. It sounds like the song is going to be another pop anthem, but potentially more in the vein of 1989. It is unclear if this will be the LP’s official second single, but if so then it seems safe to assume that the video will follow soon.
Hopefully “Gorgeous” is a bit more of a surefire hit than the project’s previous songs. “Look What You Made Me Do” hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it doesn’t have the staying power of her previous lead singles. The first buzz track, “…Ready For It,” was more of a disappointment. It builds up to a nice chorus, but the production on the verses is jarring and the lyrics are sophomoric at best.
Reputation drops November 10, and it would be for the best if it could roll in alongside a massive single to kickstart the project. “Gorgeous” may just be that song. Listen to a teaser of the track below.
