When BloodPop teamed up with Justin Bieber for his debut single, “Friends,” it was inevitable that the breakup anthem would be massive. The track fired in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and is destined to get another shot of momentum as one of the song’s writers, Julia Michaels, jumps on a remix of the fiery anthem.

Released today (October 20), the reworking stays fairly true to the original but brings on the “Issues” hitmaker to deliver the opening verse and some additional harmonies. Her voice fits well on the blistering production, and reworking the track as a duet adds an interesting back and forth element that would be present in any breakup. “I was wondering ’bout your mama. Did she get that job she wanted,” Julia sings in her breathiest tones on the opening verse. It is as though she is reluctant to call and reopen the relationship but unable to resist the urge. Give the reworked track a spin below.
