Pink's 'Beautiful Trauma:' Album Review
The pop star's latest album is a worthy addition to her iconic discography.

It was a good week for fearless pop warriors with Pink and St. Vincent making blockbuster debuts on the Billboard 200. The “What About Us” hitmaker lands her second chart-topper with Beautiful Trauma, moving 407,500 units (streaming and sales). Believe it or not, that’s the highest first-week tally of her career. While the figure is somewhat inflated by a package deal with concert tickets, Katy Perry and Shania Twain used the same tactic and didn’t come close to Pink’s total. She also topped the charts in 10 other markets including Australia, France and the UK.

St. Vincent also had a career-best week on the charts. Her critically-adored MASSEDUCTION (it currently has an 88 on Metacritic) became her first top 10 album, debuting at number 10. It’s notable given the evolution of her sound towards something bordering on pop. The “Los Ageless” singer missed this year’s Grammy deadline, but she’s sure to be in the mix next year. Pink and St. Vincent’s achievements are doubly impressive considering neither had a top 10 single or massive radio hit to support their respective albums.
