Sabrina Carpenter dabbles in electro-pop on catchy, new single 'Why.'

Sabrina Carpenter dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (October 24) to perform rising hit, “Why.” The 18-year-old cut a striking figure on stage, belting out the electro-pop anthem without the usual diversion of backing dancers or projections. She sounded great and exhibited enough stage presence to keep the viewer’s attention for the full performance. It also served as a reminder to stop sleeping on one of 2017’s catchiest pop songs.

Co-written with Leland (Troye Sivan’s “Youth” and Selena Gomez’s “Fetish”), “Why” finds the teenager dabbling in electro-pop. “Tell me how we’re not alike, but we work so well and we don’t even know why,” Sabrina chirps on the chorus. “You can call it fire and ice, but we work so well and we don’t even know why.” There’s even a very 2017 drop that evokes Kiiara’s “Gold” and Kygo & Selena’s “It Ain’t Me.” Watch the budding pop diva do her thing up top.
