Liam Payne is currently in the UK promoting new single “Bedroom Floor.” The 24-year-old delivered a brief set on BBC’s Sounds Like Friday Night including a surprise cover of Pink’s “What About Us.” He performed a stripped-back, acoustic version of the song — delivering a competent rendition. It’s nice to see the Brit switching it up with something more authentic and intimate after the Justin Bieber-lite performances of “Strip That Down,” all of which included awkward choreography and general posing.

The One Direction heartthrob is slowly coming into his own as a solo star. The songs are getting better and he’s finding his own identity. That is paying dividends on the charts. “Strip That Down” was a slow-burn hit, eventually going top 10 in the UK and US. He’s hoping for similar success with “Bedroom Floor,” a sexy banger that will get a huge push when the Bella Thorne-starring video drops later this week. Watch him in action up top.
