Pop music is getting festive this year as a handful of the industry’s biggest stars dip their toes in holiday music. Christmas queen Mariah Carey released two new seasonal anthems, while Sia and Gwen Stefani each delivered an album’s worth of material. But few acts are doing as much as a cappella power group Pentatonix. They have staked a serious claim on Christmas 2017 and have several surprises prepared for the days leading up to the holiday.

The quartet has already released a deluxe edition of their 2016 LP, A Pentatonix Christmas, and next week they will air their second annual holiday special, A Very Pentatonix Christmas. Today (November 21), they shared the first taste of the event and debuted a performance of their Jennifer Hudson collaboration, “How Great Thou Art.”

Performing on a stage decorated with a forest of glittering trees and overflowing with beautifully wrapped gifts, the traditional hymn was a more somber moment. Jennifer’s voice soared over the a cappella production and blended harmoniously with the members of the group. Although the night will likely be filled with buoyant renditions of Christmas classics, “How Great Thou Art” provided a soulful taste of what is to come.

A Very Pentatonix Christmas will premiere next Monday (November 27) and will feature appearances from the likes of Jay Leno and Darci Lynne Farmer. That’s not all! The hitmakers will embark on a North American Christmas tour the following week. They will kick things off in Chicago on December 3 and perform right up to the holiday. Watch their latest performance up top!
