Dinah Jane & Leona Lewis Record A Heartfelt Christmas Medley
Dinah Jane and Leona Lewis teamed up to spread some holiday cheer with a medley of the season’s most enduring ballads. The twosome teased their collaboration last night (December 6). “We have an early Christmas present for you tomorrow morning, can’t wait to share it,” the “Bleeding Love” siren announced alongside a photo from the recording studio. The Fifth Harmony bandmate shared a similar message alongside a second tweet that read “it’s ballad season.”
As promised, the pair uploaded their duet this morning, and it is as festive and bright as expected. “You’re the reason we get to do what we love and we put our hearts into recording this song. Merry Christmas, we love you guys,” Leona wrote in a heartfelt dedication to her fans on Twitter. On the track, she and Dinah trade off vocals and sing in stunning harmony. Their voices soar over a simple piano arrangement as they cover tracks like “Silent Night” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
The duet is Dinah’s second venture into a solo side project. The “He Like That” hitmaker teamed up with RedOne and a star-studded group on “Boom Boom” earlier this fall. She and her fellow members of 5H are beginning to explore individual releases, and thus far the results have been pretty successful. This is another example of how much potential they have both as solo entities and as part of the group.
It is particularly sweet to see the duo collaborate in the studio because Dinah has been an outspoken fan of Leona for years. Fans were quick to point out that she used to upload covers of the UK singer’s material to YouTube. Although they have been photographed together, this is the first time they are actually teaming up to perform. Hopefully they will reunite to record an original bop with the remaining members of 5H.
